The Sunseeker Predator 50 EVO Proves Size Doesn’t Matter

Sunseeker is introducing new yachts at a pace other boat makes would consider insane. In fact, the new Predator 60 EVO is the first of 22 new models expected in the next few years. But what about the 50 EVO? 

There is another new EVO, the 74, as well as the 60, but I want to share the 50 with you. So does size matter? Let’s look at that.

First, it’s the smallest Predator. It has all the style and panache of the line. It’s also the smallest which makes it easier to manage, purchase and maintain. (As if cost means much in this category!) But mostly, the 50 can be driven like a sports car – even moreso than the others.

Time to dump the Ferrari – the Sunseeker EVO 50 will rock your world.

This 50, which is actually 54’, is an incredible boat for entertaining. Whether at dock, around the harbor, or a day on the water, your guests will enjoy themselves. And for longer adventures, two staterooms (a third optional that defeats the purpose of the openness), make it perfect for a few couples.

Now, normally, I love a flybridge. So why the Predator? Well, the entire roof over the helm and much of the salon opens. Unlike other sedan cruisers, you’ll never have a cramped feeling. You’ll have the same open-air feeling you would get in open-bridge boat with the wind in your face – that is if you want it and weather permitting.

The fore deck has a great lounging space that doesn’t cover the glazing allowing light below at all times. (Other builders – once again – take note.) The aft deck brings a new level of openness.

From the swim step to the aft deck through the salon you have one uninterrupted space. The aft deck offers a seat/lounge combination aft and table forward facing aft. A table between makes casual dining al fresco a joy.

Now, the entire glass wall to the salon disappears for a seamless transition. A “U” shaped lounge with table faces a cabinet with bar and TV. Forward is a seating area and the helm.

The helm itself is commanding with an exceptional layout with a dual seat with bolster for standing while running. On the centerline are the stairs below with a wide-open overhead for light and connecting the galley and lower salon with the main deck.

Immediately below is a proper galley and lower lounge with TV. While some may find this excessive, having additional living space is always welcome for entertaining and providing solace on an overnight cruise with guests. Additionally, the chef will enjoy the socialization with others. This no doubt will be a hub of conversation.

For and aft are two staterooms with en suite heads with separate showers. Forward are scissor berths to give guests the option of their sleeping configuration. The master has a centerline berth amidships which should ensure comfortable sleeping conditions. 

The boat is very capable with shaft driver, and with a 235 mile nautical mile range at 32 knots. Length is 54’ with a beam of just under 15’.

I think it’s pretty easy to see that this is a great boat. You truly can’t go wrong with a Sunseeker – It just comes down to a model that suits your needs. If you are looking at an island hopping boat for the Med or Bahamas – this is truly a top contender.
